Wheat: Why It Gets More Destructive To The Body With Age

Why does wheat become more destructive on our health as we age?

Just like anything in life, the older we get the less resilient we become, especially to foods or drinks that are damaging to our body.

Take alcohol for example: when we were teenagers or in our twenties, we may have been able to drink large amounts without getting a hangover, or if we did, the hangover did not last very long. When we get past the age 35, however, hangovers last longer and are far more painful to endure and it takes a lot less alcohol to get intoxicated. This is because excess alcohol is seen as a toxin by the body and with age, the body is less effective at dealing with and eliminating it. Hence all the horrid after effects lasting longer.

Wheat is much worse than alcohol, in that its symptoms are much more deceptive and harder to pinpoint. Also, wheat’s damaging effects will have gradually increased over the years, making it difficult to connect it to common health problems such as chronic fatigue, weight-gain and mind/mood disorders.

Wheat related ailments can often be blamed on something else. One of the reasons for this is that symptoms don’t always show up right after consumption. There are some who may notice they get bloated after eating bread, yet with others, symptoms can show up a couple of days after eating wheat. Because there is never normally a huge reaction (unless you’re a Celiac) to wheat, like you’d get after consuming alcohol, the link never gets made that it is the wheat causing health problems. Even medical tests rarely show up wheat sensitivities. In fact, when tested, 70% of those sensitive to wheat will be wrongly told they are safe to eat it. Symptoms of wheat sensitivity may come and go, chop and change over the years, but its effects will become more debilitating with time. What may start off as seemingly harmless and common ailments, will progressively worsen with age.

In childhood, wheat sensitivity may show up as something as simple as constipation, exzema or asthma. In early adulthood the symptoms may be seen as social awkwardness, acne, psoriasis, dermatitis or cold sores. Then in later adult years the symptoms can shift and change again, but their severity will increase and worsen the longer wheat is kept in the diet.

One of the most common signs of wheat sensitivity is weight-gain. When our body develops excess fat, especially around the abdomen, our body is sending us a signal to say we are ingesting something that does not agree with us.

In this day and age, our minor ailments are rarely questioned. We are expected to pop a pill to mask our pain and discomfort, and because there are over-the-counter medications available for symptoms like: headaches, indigestion, fatigue, constipation and even weight-gain, we are encouraged to take a drug instead of discovering and removing the root cause.

Our body does not have a voice, it can only alert us to a problem by sending out alarm signals in the form of aches, pains, skin disruptions, bloating, excess stomach acid, digestive disturbances and weight-gain. As we age and our bodies become less resilient, wheat will do more and more damage if kept in the diet. We will continue to put weight on, getting bigger with each passing year, our minor ailments will get progressively worse and our chances of developing  serious illnesses will increase.

Diseases such as: type 1 diabetes, thyroid disorders, osteoporosis, neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and dementia, psychiatric illness, ADHD, rheumatoid arthritis, migraine, obesity, cardiovascular disease can be linked back to wheat.

Wheat is toxic to the human body and you do not have to have a gluten intolerance to be affected by it. The sooner you remove it, the longer and healthier your life will be.
